PANews reported on February 17th that, according to Jinshi, in a funding round already invested in by Alibaba (09988.HK) and Tencent Holdings (00700.HK), artificial intelligence startup Dark Side of the Moon is seeking to raise its valuation to $10 billion, hoping to capitalize on strong investor interest in Chinese AI model startups. Sources familiar with the matter revealed that the company, which develops the Kimi chatbot, initiated new funding talks in late January to meet investor demand. Just about a month prior, the company completed a $500 million funding round at a valuation of $4.3 billion. Sources also stated that existing investors, including Alibaba, Tencent, and 5Y Capital, have committed over $700 million in the first tranche of this latest funding round.
